All Doors in Flight @MMK, Caroline Berger?

„Above the Noise“ sounds like a bird’s eye view of digital marketing. What can we expect?

The idea for this year’s MMK is to give executives a more holistic view of marketing. Marketing doesn’t happen in a vacuum – and to get the full scope of how the industry is changing, you need to look at a global picture. Which is why in its fourth year, the MMK has gone English, with speakers from across Europe and the US.

Like any good marketing event, we will discuss topics around brand management, content creation, storytelling, UX, experiential, digital transformation etc.

But we will also host a number of offerings outside of the lecture halls, like an interactive design sprint and Instagram story school. Our marketers like to be hands-on!

Right now, it’s all about algorithms, AI and digital realities. What’s your vision about this in your field?

I spend a fair amount of time discussing topics and pain points with marketers and speakers for the MMK. Almost all of them mention a need – or at least an interest – in one of the areas above, but many feel they don’t have the knowledge or experience to use them effectively. I think with any new technology, measuring the success is paramount, and incredibly hard to do.

I could recount dozens of stories from marketing teams who spent countless time and money chasing new tech, only to find they didn’t have any idea how to apply it.

There is a real danger in wasted resources.

So at the MMK, when it comes to something like digital realities, the real question is, “How do you elevate it from a toy to a tool?”

So at the MMK, when it comes to something like digital realities, the real question is, “How do you elevate it from a toy to a tool?”

It might not be the most traditional session at a marketing event, but I am super excited for Aja Monet, the spoken word poet, to perform at the end of Day 1.

I saw her perform last year back in the US and she was absolutely incredible. In my view, good marketers don’t just look at the numbers and graphics – they incorporate any number of daily experiences into their work.

So for me, anything that pushes me out of my comfort zone and challenges my way of thinking is a good thing.

And the message, passion and creativity in which Aja speaks, is something we could all learn from.
