LIFT11: Livestream
I'll take a seat in the front, please. This video documents a twilight landing over Los Angeles, passing over different parts of the lighted city for a final smooth touchdown. Landing over cities is always impressive for the passenger, but who knew this is what the pilot gets to see?

How big is the moon? It's the biggest object in our night sky, but that's because it's closest. What would other familiar objects looked like if they were just as close? Animator Brad Goodspeed was curious, so he sketched something out and put together a beautiful visualization of other celestial objects orbiting the Earth at the distance of the moon.

Steve Jobs' Reality Distortion Field is legendary. And in a way, it's not too different from auto-tune: both take sources that may be mundane and transform them into something perfect, ironing out any objections a person might raise just by smoothing out the presentation. That must be why this "song" featuring Steve's announcement of the original iPhone on vocals is such a perfect fit.

If you want to be a professional athlete, you have to be prepared to do a lot of working out — even if your chosen sport is professional golf. At least that's the idea behind the PGA golfer Ben Crane's hilarious work-out video. His moves may not be personal-trainer-approved, but at least you'll burn a few calories laughing.

The Old Spice Guy, as the hyper-manly and oh-so-charming deodorant salesman was commonly known, was the star of one of the most talked about and shared ad campaigns of 2010. And it must have been a big deal, because people are clamoring over the fact that he's back. His return video's been up for a matter of hours and has tens of thousands of views.

"Fruit Ninja" is one of the most popular — and addictive — mobile games out there. The concept couldn't be simpler: fruit flies onto the screen, and the player has to slice it with your katana. Straightforward, but also disconnected from reality. Which is probably why it's so funny to see that game play acted out in real life, by somebody who is most definitely not a ninja.

Should it take off, "dogboarding" wouldn't be the first sport that owes its existence to internet videos — that'd probably be parkour — but it's probably the most adorable. With just a skateboard, a leash, and an energetic dog, this guy gets around his neighborhood at record speeds.

Todd Bieber found a roll of film in the snow, and did what any curious citizen in 2011 would: he got it developed and posted the pictures to the internet. To his surprise, it was an interesting roll of photos, and the resulting video captured not just his attention, but a section of the blogosphere trying to reunite the pictures with their photographer. Do you recognize any of the guys in the pictures?

Sometimes you want to wait for new technology to come out of beta before diving in. This is especially true for hardware: early adopters of Laserdisc or HD DVD probably wish they had held out a bit longer for the kinks to be worked out and the market to settle. In this hilarious take on an early approach to a technology that probably would not get the kind of market pickup it needed, Jonathan Post demonstrates 3D television without glasses.

When Sarah Palin addressed the United States from Vimeo last Wednesday, she expected that every word she used would be analyzed. (Why she chose certain ones — especially the ones that have been questioned since — remains a mystery.) She probably didn't expect that somebody would focus on just her breaths. In what has to be one of the most bizarre video "supercuts" released, every breath Palin takes during the speech is isolated.

Web culture skeptics like to play down the quality of online comment as just the work of amateurs. But sometimes amateurs are able to do a job that the professionals don't think they need to do. NASA was once the most exciting organization around, but in the past few years (decades!) they've let some of the shine wear off. One space enthusiast has had enough of NASA's lack of promotional gloss, and has taken it upon himself to develop the brilliant first spot in a new campaign for the group.

Timelapse photography of cityscapes usually makes up the "b roll" footage between more traditional action shots in films. It can establish a place, or the passage of time, but isn't usually considered the main attraction. This footage, made up of various shots of New York, threatens to upend that stereotype—it's so majestic and impressive, it's more than enough to keep your attention.
